Here is a place to discuss the role of gay in games, the protrayal of gays, where we are, and where we should be.

I'm excited to see how they handle Dr. Weir in XCOM, a closeted gay in 1960. First, he's a person he seems to be a pivotal character. He is also a person of color. Gay in a game set in the past introduces our history to this audience, gays have existed, gays have struggled, gays have contributed. To me, this is a big deal. I'm really hoping they do us proud.

So... Zevren? Thoughts? Personally I loved his openness about sex, his use of flirting to soften you up, intimdate folks, hide behind, and belay his deadly profession. AND, I know many gay guys who are him. The fact that he is sort of a stereotype doesn't bother me, he knows what he is. He is not ashamed of who he is and he can laugh at himself and others. He is treated respectfully in the game and is as fleshed out and as much of a companion as anyone else. Who was the drunken dwarf? He was straight and comical, but the comedy came from who he was and our knowledge of that and not his blithe unawareness and the game pointing and laughing. I think the writers did an exceptional job.
